Watson

In the past computer were thought to be large, slow and of not much use, being made originally to do large tests such as sending a man to the moon, computers were thought to be something for the government, but now that has changed. With the unveiling of Watson an artificial computer system that can answer questions in the natural language it was shown that computers still have a large future in technology. Watson was a IBM DeepQA project for a research team led by principal investigator David Ferrucci.
Watson is composed of some very expensive and high tech hardware. Having POWER7 processors and the DeepQA IBM hardware. Watson is made up of a cluster of ninety IBM Power 750 servers plus additional I/O, network and cluster controller nodes in 10 racks with a total of 2880 POWER7 processor cores and 16 Terabytes of RAM. Each Power 750 server uses a 3.5 GHz POWER7 eight core processor, with four threads per core. The POWER7 processor's massively parallel processing capability is an ideal match for Watson's IBM DeepQA software which is embarrassingly parallel (that is a workload that is easily split up into multiple parallel tasks).
To test Watson it was put into the game show Jeopardy. He participated in three games one of which was against the man with the longest win streak and the biggest all time money winner. This proves that the computer system that is Watson and is effective, they also named Watson after IBM’s first president, Thomas J. Watson.
Watson could definitely be the start to something big. He could be the beginning to self moving and robot figures like what  you see in Star Wars, since Watson talks that part is already taken care of. Though as soon as they have a working body for one we could be seeing robots in our houses making us coffee and toast in the morning and turning out the lights at night.

3D Education

Nowadays students complain and plainly dislike or hate school. The way students see school now is just boring until say lunch hour and the socializing and friends you get to have. Teaching students has always been done by teachers on a board with sheets and explanations. Going to school has always been the same with an exception of a field trip here and there to break the boredom of the weeks of continuous school. Though now all of this may be changing with the 3D education.
3D Education is the new way of teaching. Although many people think that 3D Education won’t make a difference in tests and that it may just be a waste of money, test results show otherwise.
3D Education has many benefits, it brings excitement into learning so the students pay attention, the lessons are captivating and engaging, many of the abstract objects become tangible for students, the understanding of complex ideas improves, knowledge retention increases, the proven fact is that 3D improves test scores.
From comparing the learning of two classes, one which learns from a 2D view and the other a 3D view, the 2D view may take up to 2-3 classes to get across the message of a topic, whereas the 3D can learn it in a single class because they have a better experience with the topic. The test results were outstanding, the learning with 2D put up the average test up 9.7% whereas the 3D put up the marks an outstanding 35%.
3D education will definitely have an impact in the future on teaching. If teachers can they will make it easier for children to learn. If learning becomes faster and more effective because of this the government will be issueing for schools to have this in there class rooms and use it at every chance they have. A smarter generation of us could make the difference of the one under, if we're smart from this we could have the knowledge to increase the learning capability to the generation after us and so on. Plus if we're more adapt to the technology plus smarter we could be the ones to make it to the moon and so on. Better school is the possibility to lead mankind to greater things.

UA E39 Compression Shirt

Testing muscles and measuring heart rates used to be an indoor thing where you would be hooked up to just about a billion cords which may or may not affect your preformance, non the less it was the only way to do it. Much of the sports world you must pass training exercises and practice alot. These training exercises were normally done inside because of the cords and wires. But the future has changed that....
The UA E39 compression shirt is the new form of sports testing system. In the past they have used bands and hooked you up to a machine to measure heart rates, energy levels, breathing rates and ect. Now ushering in a new era of monitoring athletes is the E39 compression shirt.
With this new shirt you are able to monitor and improve your training techniques so that you can become the most effective trainer, with the most effective training techniques. Since the shirt monitors your body movements it can tell which muscles are being used giving you the info you need to perfect your workouts, and get the most out of the time you have.
To get the info from the shirt all you need is a Bluetooth, computer or a smart phone. Since you only need one of the three options there is a large chance you have one, so almost everyone would be able to use it.
This shirt will probably be the most effective way of monitoring training for the next decade until a better way comes out, although it will probably be a long time before a new way will be required. This shirt will also show us how we can change our training to make it more effective so after studying longer and looking at training styles for a person we could essentially make ourselves able to train faster and harder so we will be faster and stronger then ever before because we know what to do to get us to that position.

Adidas Formotion Clothing

In the past clothing while playing sports has been leisurely and not a big deal. Look at hockey for instance, they used to have hardly any padding and the goalies had a small helmet. But now as Don Cherry describes it they have armour, which I agree on. Or golf maybe people used to play that game in full suits, not they just have pants and a T-shirt and sometimes a hat. Clothing changes over time especially in sports. That is why Adidas thought it smart to make a line of clothing for sports would enhance the players ability in the sports and make them able to play harder, faster and maybe even longer. the Adidas Formotion Clothing is this.
This new form of sports wear is built to move in the way the sport needs you to. By using various types of fabrics and having the clothing form particular shapes it can enhance your performance but also improve your comfort while playing.

These Formotion clothes come in three types, Linear which is for sports that need to go in a forward motion such as running, Lateral where the player will use upper body strength like tennis, and the Helix where the player focuses on lower body strength in sports like soccer and football. This clothing works by targeting certain body parts which enhances and gives more control to the muscles activity improving the overall form for the player, increasing the skill level at which they play.
My assumption is that this clothing will be able to change the way sports are played. Although alot of work still has to be done on it probably within a few years I could see every sports player out there wearing this clothing and being able to hit harder and swing faster. Although more things could change that as in new bats, hockey sticks, new golf clubs or new shoes. So maybe this may have a small factor in the changes but I think that it will make a difference.

Ipad 2

Electronics have been used for multiple centuries in various ways, although they weren't used for pure entertainment for several years. Until 1950 it was still all radio or telephones. The radio was partly entertainment but mainly news and alarms. when it was used for entertainment completely and the television was released, only the richest of the rich would get one until several years later. electronics continued to go down the universal path to the way it is now, the main factor that increased electronic technology was the space race which put a big push on the electronic developement in the 1960s. Though electronics were not made into a necesity till the 21st century it was still a nice thing to have. just as nowadays having a ps3 or say ipad is. The ipad is one of the handiest pieces of equipment you can have, it can show news and connect to the internet where you want it to, or maybe play some games or you could go on facebook. So when the Ipad 2 was released excitement was in the air.
Ipad 2 is now thinner, lighter and much more comfortable. It can just be to hard to put down once you have it. The Ipad 2 makes surfing the web, watching videos, checking emails, and reading books, so natural, and so easy and so natural, you may forget you have one incredible piece of technology in your finger tips. You can enjoy yourself for up to ten hours of simple bliss.

This Ipad has an A5 Chip making surfing the web, downloading apps, and loading videos faster. It also has super fast graphics making it amazing for gamers. Being smoother and more realistic is a real bonus for gamers and it makes apps just that much better. Video watcher will also enjoy this improvement because it will make the graphics just that more crisp.
As for its two cameras, one in the front and one in the back, they are a big deal. Since they were designed for FaceTime video calling they are highly efficient for actually FaceTime. If you’re not on FaceTime it still works and you can pull out the camera to film something that is worth filming.
The Ipad 2 also has an instant turn on so when you want to you can immediately start doing what your need to do, or have fun when you want to have fun. Being built with an advanced 802.11n wireless technology you can access the internet when you want to, and where you want to.
The Ipad will be able to lead us into a new portable race of electronics. It has the potential to change the way we watch television and play games and more over communicate with eachother. Adding 3D to the equation is already a quick change that they have the technology to add now. Which I'm sure their working on as I write this. All of this will add to a great product with the increase of technology and new ways to improve it being made it could be used in schools and a textbook also since it has a kindle app. Overall in the future the Ipad 2 or the next generations of it will be made into an important part of life in various forms and places.

Twin Keck Telescopes

The Twin Keck Telescopes out in Hawaii on the dormant Mauna Kea volcano are current the most powerful telescopes in the world. Being the worlds largest optical and infared telescopes they are quite renowned for the work that they are able to do. Keck I has been doing its job since 1993 and then Keck II project was initiated and finished in 1996, the NASA program has a one sixth partnership in the observatory.
Each of the twin telescopes stand at an outstanding eight stories tall and weigh a total of 300 tons. Their primary mirrors alone are ten metres in diameter and made up of thirty-six hexagonal segments that work together in concert as a single sheet of reflective glass.

The positioning of the telescopes was no coincidence either, since the Mauna Kea volcano is the only in the area and is so tall the atmosphere isn’t as thick and out in Hawaii most of the year the skies are clear, and there are few lights to light up the night on Hawaii so the telescopes can be used to the best of their abilities.
These two telescopes are equipped with the highest in advancements when it comes to space exploration, everything in them is made so that everything they look at would look as crisp and clean as it would if you were standing beside it.
Although these twins will soon go down the ranks in the world of telescopes as a thirty metres telescope is being made and is set to be finished in 2015. So until then they will keep working to find new places within our galaxy, and universe.
The Twin Keck telescopes were definitely the start of the big start of exploring the galaxy and the universe. although with continued ways to get past things like earths gravitational field, and increasing the size of it like the Thirty Metres Telescope they definitely still have a future just in new forms and placed in different areas of the world. The ginormous telescopes definitely have and will continue to make a difference in space exploration.

IPhone 4

Phones go back over a hundred years, originally made by Alexander Graham Bell (By which Bell phone services are named). Phone used to be large, clunky and unefficient to use. Then they became smaller, with a single headset, then it became more efficient and became wireless within a certain area, and then cellphones were introduced, originally flip phones the cell phone was extremely popular and worked well. But as technology increased so did the cellphone, it began to have full keyboards, and slides instead of flips, and then the touch came out as a ipod. then it was quickly formed into the iphone, which introduced the beginning of the IPhone4
The IPhone 4 is the new generation of phones, after years wanting video calling, people have finally got what they wanted, the new IPhone will give you the chance to wave to your kids, see your kids smile from across the globe, or give them that bed time story that they so badly want.

The new retina display is the sharpest, most vibrant, and highest-resolution screen out there. Having four times the usual number of pixels, gives this phone such a high pixel density that the human eye is unable to identify individual pixels. This makes text, pictures and videos as clean and crisp as you can get them. The five megapixel camera is just another one of the amazing feature so phone. With it’s built in LED flash you can take better pictures then any other phone out there. Although these are only some of its many amazing features, there’s still iBooks, iMovie, the App store, Voice Memos, Stocks and more.
The engineers of this IPhone didn’t start with scratch, but three years of experience, giving them an advantage, this IPhone 4 is situated between two glossy panels of aluminosilicate glass, the same glass used for windshields for helicopters and fast speed trains. Plus the phone is only 9.3 millimetres thick! Making the IPhone 4 the worlds thinnest smart phone.
the IPhone 4 will inevitably probably be the most popular phone until a new IPhone is made then that will take the place and so on, and as long the phones are being made and don't get ousted by a new type of technologies then they will still have a place in technology. But there life will probably be short lived considering the blue tooth headset and other improvements to communications that have been made already.

Elbit Systems Viper Portable Combat Robot

Elbit Systems Viper Portable Combat Robot is the newest member of the Elbit unmanned system family. It is used in war to go in to where men should not go, such as to unarm a bomb or do more important missions. It can do things such as provide support to infantry on operations.

Being only 9 inches tall and 25 pounds makes it highly efficient in getting into places where men cannot go. Its small form can go into enemy territory easier then men without being spotted. Only taking one person to control by a hand operated control panel and helmet mounted display, making it easy to use and you can use it on the go. It was developed under the Israel Ministry of Defense Research & Development Directorate and is currently in prototype stages.
This type of robot will probably make the difference overall in space exploration since these are already being used. Having a smaller robot could mean that it could get farther in space which could put us out into the universe. Although the problem with this is that it is unable to carry the equipment needed for space exploration. This type of robot will definitely have a large impact in space exploration like they already have, and as technology increases this robot will go farther then ever into space and maybe make the greatest discoveries ever, although that is probably still far in the future.

2011 Buick Regal

The transportation in the past has been slow and unefficient, trains weren't just in your back yard and taking the horse and buggy would take to long, so when cars came out there was alot of optimism about getting out. although they would go slow compared to now, they were quite the change in the world. New car companies were made and one was Buick. Buick began making cars for some years until they came out with what they call the best they have ever made. the Buick Regal.
The all new 2011 Buick Regal seemed only a fantasy 18 months ago and no body really thought it would become a reality except Jim Federico. Jim Federico is General Motors vehicle line executive for its global mid-sized car platform. This new Buick was known about by few outside of Federico’s team. The Regal is supposed to take the place of Saturn Aura.
The new Regal has been building and shipping to North America for a few weeks now and has been a hit. About 26,000 Regal’s are planning to be built within the year.

The interior of the Regal is common with the Insignia but distinct from LaCrosse. The LaCrosse gets a broad, flat dashboard with a floating gauge pod and center cluster. The Regal's design has a driver-oriented layout. The materials have a high quality feel and fit and finish was consistently excellent across all of the cars.

One of the biggest complaints about the Regal are its large A-pillars, which cause substantial blind spots. All Regals will be mid-level CXL models, for this coming year of 2011, but in the future they plan to have more performance oriented GS models.
When the first Regals arrive at dealerships in May they will as be powered by the 2.4-liter direct-injected Ecotec inline four-cylinder with 182 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. Whereas the 2.0-liter turbocharged and direct-injected inline four-cylinder with 220 horsepower will begin being sold in August.
I don't think this really has a future considering that their is no real specialties to it. It is just your average new car, although it may have better mileage on it, it will most likely just be a small step in technology. This definitely will be nothing more then the Buick cars before it.

Nintendo 3Ds

Gaming began years ago with the beginning of Nintendo. although Nintendo didn't have the original gaming systems it was still a big hit, a big step in its way to glory was creating the portable, Gameboy which slowly upgraded to a DS after a few changes. then after a few more generations of the DS came the Nintendo 3Ds
The Nintendo 3Ds came out to the US on March 27th. This new form of portable gaming is available for a cool $250 US. This new 3Ds is the only of its kind in 3D portable gaming, but the coolest part is that there is no need to have any glasses of any sort to see it in 3D. Although that the systems 3D features are only available while looking from a small specific area in front of the screen, its a great form of gaming for the player, although for any people watching the playing they will just see it in 2D.
The Nintendo 3Ds comes equipped with two cameras, a 2D front facing camera and a 3D rear-facing camera to take all the videos you need. The 24-bit colour is a good improvement from the 18-bit past ones. With its small size it travels easy while still giving you an excellent picture on its 3.53inch (90mm) screen. Now for its software, it comes with a PICA200 graphics processor from Japanese Digital Media Processors it also has an 800x240 pixel resolution which produces a three dimensional effect.
The first game unveiled to come out on this new gaming console was Kid Icarus: Uprising, although since then more have been unveiled and released, including The Legend of Zelda, Assassin’s Creed, Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil, and Super Street Fighter 4. But don’t worry, your old favourite classics such as Mario Cart are back and also in 3D giving you a whole new out look on the game no matter how much you have played it in the past.
This definitely has a place in the future, considering that there is a 3D portable gaming system even though most people haven't even watched something in 3D while not in a theatre. The 3D part of the system has the most potential although the whole piece of equipment still has extra potention with its touch screen. If they make the touch screen 3D and then you can move the 3D objects out of the air, then it will be impressive and definitely would be amazing, this 3Ds definitely has a future.
